Q. What is SlitherMap?
SlitherMap is a real-time multiplayer territory conquest game set on a world map. Control your worm, traverse the map, expand your territory, and compete against players worldwide to reach the top of the rankings.
Q. Do I need to register to play?
No. You can play instantly as a guest, and your scores are recorded and kept in the rankings. When you sign up later, your guest scores transfer to your new account — so signing up is recommended to secure your records and continue across devices.
Q. What is the difference between a guest and a member account?
Members have their scores and rankings saved permanently across devices. Guests are also ranked and their scores are kept; when a guest signs up, their existing scores transfer to the new account.
Q. How do I control my worm?
Your worm follows your mouse cursor direction, or you can use the arrow keys or WASD on keyboard. On mobile, tap the screen to change direction.
Q. How do I claim territory?
When you move outside your territory, a trail forms behind your worm. Returning to your own territory fills in the enclosed area as new territory.
Q. What happens when I die?
All your territory is lost and the game ends. For member accounts, your best score record is preserved, so your ranking remains.
Q. How do I earn coins and what are they for?
Coins are earned proportional to the area you claim. They are spent on building cities (100,000 coins) and spawning subworms (100,000 coins). A higher kill multiplier yields more coins for the same area.
Q. What is a City?
A base you can build on land within your territory. Cities automatically produce score and coins every second, and can be leveled up (U key) to increase output. They also serve as spawn points for subworms.
Q. What is a Subworm?
An additional worm separate from your main worm. Summon it from a nearby city with the V key, and switch control with the Tab key. Subworm death does not end your game, and territory it claims is shared with your main worm.
Q. What is the kill multiplier?
Each time an enemy worm's head hits your trail and they die, your kill multiplier increases by 10%. A higher multiplier means more score and coins earned per territory claimed.
Q. Can I play on mobile?
Yes, SlitherMap fully supports mobile touch controls. Tap to change direction and use on-screen buttons for city building, subworm spawning, and other actions.
Q. Which browsers are supported?
Any modern browser that supports WebGL, including Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. Chrome or Edge latest version is recommended for the best experience.
Q. How are rankings calculated?
Your final score at game over is submitted simultaneously to daily, weekly, monthly, and all-time rankings. Each period resets at UTC midnight (daily: every day, weekly: Monday, monthly: 1st of each month).
Q. Can I chat with other players?
Yes, global chat, country-specific chat, and in-game chat are available. After logging in, click the chat button to join a channel.
Q. I want to delete my account.
You can request account deletion from your profile page. All ranking records, profile data, and game data will be permanently removed. This action cannot be undone, so please decide carefully.
Q. What can I buy, and do I need to?
You can buy crystals with real money and spend them on skins (cosmetic only), boosters and consumables. Boosters and consumables do have in-game effects. Nothing is required — the whole game, rankings included, is playable for free.
Q. What currency are prices in, and is tax included?
All prices are shown in US dollars (USD) and exclude tax. Any sales tax or VAT is added at checkout based on your billing country.
Q. Who charges me, and what appears on my statement?
Purchases are sold through Xsolla (USA), Inc., our Merchant of Record. Xsolla handles payment, invoicing and refunds, and Xsolla is the name that appears on your card or bank statement.
Q. Can I get a refund?
Yes, under the conditions set out in our Refund Policy. Unused crystals can be refunded in full within 14 days of purchase. Crystals already spent, and items already added to your account, cannot be refunded because they are delivered immediately.
Q. Do crystals or items expire?
Crystals do not expire. Skins do not expire while the service is operated. Boosters are time-limited and expire 30 days after purchase. Consumables are used up one at a time, and any quantity you have not used does not expire. If you delete your account, any remaining crystals and items are lost.
